New City service provider added for account payments

The City of Cape Town advises customers of an additional online payment service provider that can be used to pay municipal accounts and rental payments. The City has various convenient retail and online service offerings.

The City offers a number of convenient ways to pay municipal accounts and City-due rental money. All income from rates and services is used to fund the delivery of services. It is also the primary source of income used for service delivery.

Customers can pay their municipal accounts (excluding motor vehicle licenses and traffic fines) at any Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay, PEP, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up, Woolworths and selected Spar shops. Please note that the South African Post Office is no longer a City-service provider for account and traffic fine payments.

Residents may also make payments using their bank’s website. The City is listed as a beneficiary at all the major banks, so it is not required to load the City’s details when doing transactions.

For account and City-rental payments:

Online: www.Easypay.co.za or www.powertime.co.za
EFTs: Select the City as a bank-listed beneficiary. Use only your nine-digit municipal account number as reference
Retailers: Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay, PEP, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up, Woolworths and selected Spar shops
ATM: contact your bank to add the City as an ATM beneficiary

Please make sure you take a copy of your municipal account or have your account number at hand.

Debit orders
Customers may schedule a debit order to take place on the 7th, 15th or the last working day of the month. Contact our call centre on 0860 103 089 for help, or visit one of our cash offices/walk-in centres.

Assistance

We have made R3,3 billion available for rates and services assistance in the new financial year.
We have also made relief available for those severely impacted financially by COVID-19.
Interest-free payment arrangements are available for those who qualify.

For payment of pre-due date traffic fines:

www.standardbank.co.za (Standard Bank clients only); www.fnb.co.za (FNB clients only) and www.paycity.co.za or at selected Spar shops. Standard Bank and First National Bank clients may also pay their pre-due date traffic fines at their respective ATMs.

Customers are reminded of the following National Transport regulations (note fines are nationally determined, the City may not unilaterally write off fines):

Discs that have expired on 31 October 2020: renew by 23 November 2020
Discs that expire on 30 November 2020: renew by 22 December 2020
Discs that expire on 31 December 2020: renew by 22 January 2021
Motor trade vehicle numbers/trade plates: renew by 30 November 2020
Driver’s and learner’s licenses: renew by 31 January 2021
